Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate Helps Put El Marcero on the Grid

(Davis) — El Macero residents are all set to be wired for the future.

Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate, which represents 50 percent of buyers in the prestigious community, recently partnered with other local businesses to pool funds for much needed infrastructure improvements.

When the advancements are in place, El Macero residents will have access through Fiber Optic technology to wifi, internet and cable — a staple convenience that was lacking for many years without the proper wiring.

“We’re delighted to help bridge El Macero residents to the future, who will soon enjoy all the modern conveniences that we often take for granted,” said Doug Arnold Real Estate Owner and Broker Dave Taormino. “The entire firm here at Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate is dedicated to providing home buyers and sellers the latest in technological innovations — even before they buy a home.”

Coldwell Banker’s newest office expansion at the corner of Second and D streets in Davis comes fully equipped with state of the art technology throughout, including wifi connectivity, and theatre rooms used by Realtors to show their clients video tours before deciding which homes to tour in person.

Wiring El Macero for the internet can be likened to a modern-day “barn raising,” which was popular in the 18th to 19th centuries, wherein the community came together to share resources and labor for the common good.

In this case, Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold joined with other locals to provide the funding for the project, seeing how the service would benefit the whole community. The amenity will further increase property values.

“This connects it all together,” said Taormino. “We know the demand for high speed internet is ‘now,’ and this really sets the tone for the future. We’re

Coldwell Banker Celebrates Picnic Day

Saturday, April 20, was the 99 Picnic Day celebration for the city and University of California, Davis. The sun was shining, people were smiling, and thousands turned out for food, fun and community spirit.

Picnic Day is a well-loved Davis tradition, with the university and the community coming together to celebrate all the town and campus have to offer. Over the years, the Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate (CB DARE) office has become a gathering place for agents, clients and friends to watch the Picnic Day parade. Each year on Picnic Day, parade watchers get the chance to reconnect, visit with people they don’t get to see too often, and enjoy the Picnic Day parade together.

The tradition began organically, and over time it became understood that the lawn at CB DARE was a great place to gather. CB DARE agent Chad DeMasi says, “Being at Coldwell Banker on Picnic Day is like being with our extended family. All of our kids are here, our clients and their families are here, and it just makes for a fun day to hang out, watch the parade and socialize.” Read more about CB DARE Picnic Day events

Once again this year, more than 55,000 people attended the events. UC Davis opened its doors and invited the community to numerous demonstrations showcasing what the university has to offer. “Picnic Day is like the homecoming for the university; it’s when a lot of families and alumni come back to celebrate UC Davis,” said adviser to picnic day Paul Cody, who also serves as the interim director at the Center for Student Involvement (source: UC Davis press release). The events included the Doxie Derby, a chemistry magic show, and lots of

Come Celebrate Picnic Day with Coldwell Banker on Saturday

Picnic Day is a Davis legend.  It began as a way to share the accomplishments and facilities of the University of California with the town, but the entire city of Davis has embraced the day, making the celebration its own. Picnic Day is an informal celebration of spring – a chance for everyone to spend the day outdoors when the weather is just starting to get beautiful again. It’s a time for people to get together with friends, have fun and enjoy everything that Davis and the university have to offer.
Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate (CB DARE) in downtown Davis has its own Picnic Day tradition. Every year, agents and their families gather on the lawn of 505 Second Street to watch the parade and bask in the energy of downtown. Clients and friends stream past and drop by, and everyone has a great time. This year, we’ll have balloons, live music and face painting to create a great time of community, family, and fun.
Location: The CB DARE front lawn at 505 Second Street
Day: Saturday, April 20
Time: 9:30 a.m. until the start of the parade reaches our office

University Retirement Community

Although owning a home can be a great investment, the upkeep, maintenance and costs of home ownership can take its toll. Homeowners who are at least 60 years old and are considering a more hassle-free living experience are encouraged to take advantage of recent openings at University Retirement Community (URC) in Davis.

Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Realtor Leslie Blevins explains why right now is a great time to make the move from home ownership to a residential community like URC. She says, “URC is often full, but they currently have openings. Lawn and home care, repairs, and upkeep, especially on an older home, can take time away from doing the things active seniors would rather be doing, like spending time with family, traveling, or hobbies.”

Blevins adds that in the past, applicants to URC have lost their spots by the time they could sell their homes. However, today’s market provides an outstanding opportunity. “Currently, inventory is at its lowest point in many years. If you’re considering selling your home, this is a great time to get the offer you want. And you could be living in your new community by springtime,” Blevins says.

URC offers residential living, or a number of assisted-living plans for residents who need more care. To get more information on what URC offers for active, healthy lifestyles, we encourage you to stop by their Moving Fair and Open House. Enjoy some lunch, live music, and lots of good information. Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Realtors will also be on hand to answer your questions about this dynamic seller’s market, so be sure to stop by and say “hello!”

The Moving Fair and Open House takes place on March 27 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

New Homes Update: Central Park West and Verona

In our previous new-homes update, we profiled Willowbank Park and Mahogany Lane, both in South Davis. In this update, we’ll cover Verona (South Davis) and Central Park West (located in the heart of downtown).

Central Park West offers seven new homes bordering Central Park in the heart of downtown Davis. Designed by Sherman Homes, these three-story homes were built to blend in with the existing homes. Ranging from 1,651 to 2,120 square feet, each unit has three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Each unit also has a two-car garage with rear access.

Currently, two homes are available for sale. Both have approximately 1,650 square feet of living space with another 350 square feet in an unconditioned bonus room. These homes have three bedrooms, and 2.5 baths, two-car garages, and boast three separate decks. Steve Sherman of Sherman Homes notes, “Both lots also feature very large, mature trees, a rarity in a new home. The homes are equipped with solar panels for electricity generation and are extremely energy efficient.” Unit 5 is priced at $699,000, while Unit 4 is a model home and has not yet been placed on the market.

These homes are both beautiful and practical, with energy-efficient designs, luxurious features, and gorgeous living spaces. In the open living area, an island with built-in range provides a focus to the room, and the solid bamboo cabinets mesh nicely with the Caesarstone counters. The distressed maple hardwood flooring ties the space together, providing warmth that reflects the natural light from the large windows. Outside the kitchen, suspended above the neighborhood, a patio offers an excellent view of the surrounding area and a great spot to grill. A half-bath rounds out the downstairs. Upstairs are two side bedrooms, the master
